Rexaura is a free single player mod for Portal 1. (Best played with keyboard and mouse)
The focus for this mod is on its difficulty level,
which is measured by how well you can solve timing portal puzzles.
In Rexaura you have to solve 20 tricky puzzle chambers with the well-known Portal Gun.
Although the respective chambers have been designed to be relatively quick to solve,
the solution for every chamber is aimed at finding out an appropriate timing for the solution in dealing with the portal gun and energy ball(s).
Measured against other Portal 1 or 2 mods, Rexaura's level of difficulty is clearly in the upper range of all Portal mods.
Outstanding for this mod is, at least for me personally, in no other
Portal mod or game have i ever accidentally died from energy ball collisions as frequently as in Rexaura.
Which is something positive.
The story elements for Rexaura are distributed in a minimalist but humorous way through every chamber.
A big story campaign with cutscenes is not offered, but it doesn't have to be, since this mod is primarily designed for solving puzzles.
Criticism can only be made in the low sum of the differently used puzzle elements, compared to other mods.
Personally, I think this is a matter of taste, since Rexaura's focus here from the start is to deliver good timing portal puzzles with just a few chamber elements.
Rexaura can also be played with a gamepad, but there are many puzzles to be solved
dependent on the relatively quick placement of portals, which is simply easier to do with a keyboard and mouse.
Conclusion:
Rexaura is clearly aimed at Portal veterans looking for more Portal challenges.
If you want more portal, you should grab it on Steam.
Overall an interestingly designed mod with a clear focus, that's how a mod should be.
